How to find your AC make & model
Air Conditioner: Locating the Nameplate Sticker
Steps to Find the Nameplate Sticker
The nameplate sticker has all of the equipment information. There will be one on the outdoor AC unit and it's common for one indoors that lists the model number for the refrigerant coil.
1. Locate the Outdoor Unit
Start with the outdoor condenser unit. The nameplate sticker is typically found on the side or back of the unit. It is a white and black sticker that shows information about the outdoor portion of the air conditioner. Take a photo of the sticker or write down the model and serial numbers that are denoted by M/N (model number) and S/N (serial number).
2. Check the Indoor Air Handler
The next step is to check the indoor unit. If you have a ductless unit then the sticker might be located on the top, bottom, or side of the unit.
For central ducted systems (including furnaces), the sticker can usually be found on the front or side of the ductwork that's immediately above the furnace. This portion of the ductwork is called the plenum. There isn't always an indoor sticker so don't worry if you can't find it.
